She's also a medical scientist, book lover and daydreamer based on the beautiful Central Coast, north of Sydney in Australia.

Zoya grew up partly by the sea and partly on an outback farm, with too many sheep to count.

She loved dressing up as her favourite book characters. Here she is as Little Red Riding Hood...

Zoya became a medical scientist to investigate the war between white cells and germs.

Fun Facts About Zoya
  • She can crack a stock whip. Stand back!
  • She has 11 uncles, 13 aunts and 28 first cousins.
  • Her heritage is part Dutch, part Russian. (She's eaten soooo much pastry.)
  • She loves eating salted liquorice, the saltier the better!
  • She also loves country music and won't apologise.
  • She is learning to surf.
  • Her favourite book growing up was THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO by Alexandre Dumas.
  • Her favourite colour is green.
  • She loves writing stories for young people because they believe in a world of possibility and their imagination rocks.

Bio

Zoya Kooper writes middle-grade and young adult fiction with humour and a splash of fantasy. Her short stories have won multiple awards and been published in The School Magazine, anthologies and online. She's also won mentorships for longer fiction with the Australian Society of Authors, as well as the Children's Book Council of Australia’s Charlotte Waring Barton Award. Her co-written MG novel, Into Tordon, was published by MidnightSun. ​Zoya lives on the beautiful Central Coast of NSW, Australia, and when not writing or attempting to surf, she works as a medical scientist in pathology.​
